Viator and Tripadvisor for a Lanzarote buggy tour: what's on offer and when it's worth it

Viator sells nine buggy tours in Lanzarote, from €150 per two-seater buggy, at the same price as GetYourGuide and the operator. It's worth it for two tours you won't find on another platform; for the rest, the difference lies in the reviews and the small print.

  • from€150per buggy (up to 2 people)
  • Per person≈ €75with 2 on board
  • Duration2.5 hguided
  • Rating★ 4.65,581 reviews
  • Prices are per buggy, not per person
  • Every tour is guided
  • Free cancellation up to 24 h before on most

Viator isn't a partner of this website: we earn nothing if you book there. We review it because lots of people find Lanzarote's buggy tours through Tripadvisor, and bookings made on Tripadvisor go through Viator, a Tripadvisor company based in the United States.

Quick verdict

Good for: anyone already collecting Viator Rewards, or anyone who wants H2O's 3-hour north tour from Costa Teguise or the 3-hour island tour by "Buggy Adventure Lanzarote". Neither appears on GetYourGuide.

Not ideal for: anyone looking for Aventura Lanzabuggy's tours (Can-Am Trail, Maverick, trike, Slingshot), which aren't in its buggy category, or anyone who wants purchase-verified reviews for one specific product.

Which buggy tours does Viator sell in Lanzarote?

Lanzarote's 4x4 tours category had 19 results on 6 October 2026. Only nine are buggies; the rest are 4x4s, jet skis, a submarine and catamarans. Prices in euros per vehicle, all with free cancellation:

Tour on ViatorOperatorFromRating
3 h automatic Can-AmBuggies Lanzarote (Puerto Calero)€1704.6 (over 800)
2 h from Costa Teguise (two listings)H2O Sports / Buggy Experience€1504.6
3 h from Costa Teguise and the north (two listings)H2O Sports / Buggy Experience€2004.8
On-road volcanoesH2O Sports€1804.5
4-seater mixed 3 hH2O Sports€2004.8
3 h island tour, Can-Am Maverick"Buggy Adventure Lanzarote", according to secondary sources€2304.7 (over 200)

The operator names for H2O and "Buggy Adventure Lanzarote" come from a review website, not from Viator, so treat them as a guide only.

Price: Viator against GetYourGuide and the operator

Same product, same price. H2O's two-seater off-road tour costs €150 on Viator, on GetYourGuide and on the operator's own website. The Puerto Calero tour is €170 on Viator and on GetYourGuide; on the Buggies Lanzarote website it's €160 minus €10 if you book online, so booking direct wins there.

  • Hotel pick-up: the H2O 3-hour listing charges €5 per person, paid at its office. That's the same as H2O charges direct.
  • Currency: the shop came up for us in another currency; we had to switch to euros with its selector. Do the same before you compare.
  • Viator Rewards: you don't earn them if you reach Viator through an affiliate link.

If you'd rather book the same tours on GetYourGuide, there's the Costa Teguise off-road tour and the 3-hour tour from Puerto Calero at the same price. We explain the differences between platforms on operators and platforms.

Cancellation and payment

All nine buggy tours show "free cancellation", with the standard 24-hour window. Viator also has "final sale" products with no refund, and a reserve now, pay later option on many tours: don't take it for granted, check the listing before you pay.

Remember that the off-road route depends on something no platform controls. On 2 October 2026 the Cabildo (the island council) opened a public consultation on a bylaw that could restrict buggies and quads on dirt tracks and rural land. Nothing is banned yet, but routes could switch to tarmac: check when you book.

What Tripadvisor and Trustpilot say

Viator scores 4.4 out of 5 on Trustpilot, from over 330,000 reviews. The operators' Tripadvisor pages give another clue, although the figures come from search results and we couldn't open the site itself:

  • Buggies Lanzarote: 4.7 from over 1,200 reviews. Praise for the guides, the off-road fun and the scenery; older complaints about poorly kept manual buggies, dust and the cold on higher ground.
  • Aventura Lanzabuggy: 4.7 from over 700 reviews. Comments mention a split of about 25 % dirt track to 75 % tarmac, a lot of dust and some worn buggies.
  • H2O Sport Lanzarote: 4.8 from over 1,000 reviews. There is at least one negative review titled "no show" on the 2-hour buggy tour.

The key difference: Tripadvisor reviews don't require you to have bought the tour, whereas Viator and GetYourGuide reviews do. To choose a buggy tour, also see our review round-up.

Weak points

  • No Lanzabuggy: none of its tours is in Viator's buggy category. For the Can-Am Trail, the Maverick or the Slingshot you'll need GetYourGuide or its own website; we explain it on Lanzabuggy.
  • Results order influenced by revenue: Viator states that what it earns from each product may affect the "Featured" order.
  • Duplicate listings: H2O appears twice with different titles for the same type of route (2 h and 3 h), with the reviews split between them.

How to book on Viator without surprises

  1. Switch the currency to euros.
  2. Check that the price is "per group" (per buggy) and how many seats it has.
  3. See whether the listing includes pick-up or whether it's paid separately.
  4. Bring your original driving licence: H2O doesn't accept copies and asks for age 20 and a licence held for two years. More in licence and age.
