Another day, another plan

Things to do in Lanzarote besides a buggy: sea trips, e-bikes, 4x4 excursions and Fuerteventura

If your buggy tour is already booked, or you're too young to drive one, these are the activities, with or without an engine, that fit best: things to do in Lanzarote on the sea from €55, by e-bike from €119, by 4x4 from €40, and a buggy day in Corralejo for €124 per person.

  • Prices are per buggy, not per person
  • Every tour is guided
  • Free cancellation up to 24 h before on most

More on GetYourGuide

A buggy tour takes up a morning. The rest of the week leaves room for much more, and some of these activities solve problems a buggy can't: the 19-year-old driver who is under the minimum age, the child who isn't 1.35 m tall, or the group that fancies a day without the dust.

We've picked the ones that make most sense if you came looking for a buggy: a similar pace, the same kind of crowd and, in several cases, the same starting area.

Jet ski: the closest thing to a buggy

It's the nearest thing to driving a buggy, only on the sea. In Lanzarote you don't need a qualification if you ride on a circuit or in a guided group: at most four jet skis per instructor and two people per jet ski. Paracraft asks for the driver to be 18 (16 with parental consent), with no licence needed.

  • Jet ski tour, the most-reviewed jet ski trip on the island, from 20 minutes to 3 hours.
  • Safari from Puerto Calero towards Papagayo: the Papagayo coast seen from the water. Note that you can't go to Papagayo by buggy; in 2025 a company was fined €4,500 for taking a convoy through Los Ajaches.

If you want both on the same day, Paracraft and Buggies Lanzarote have buggy and jet ski combos. We compare them on buggy and jet ski.

Parasailing in Puerto del Carmen

Ten minutes hanging from a parachute behind a boat, with the Puerto del Carmen coastline below you. It's the plan for anyone who doesn't drive: at Paracraft, passengers can fly from age 8 with an adult, up to age 75. See parasailing dates.

If you'd like to pair it with a buggy, Paracraft's Pack Trio puts buggy, jet ski and parasailing together in 4 hours, from €300 for two on GetYourGuide.

E-bike tours through La Geria and the volcanoes

For anyone who wants volcanic scenery without a driving licence and without the dust of a buggy convoy. The e-bike tour through craters and vineyards spends 4 hours in the natural park and the La Geria vineyards, where the vines grow in pits dug into the picón (volcanic gravel) and sheltered by stone walls. It scores 4.9 out of 5 from over 150 reviews.

There's another 3.5-hour option from €119 that includes going inside a volcano or climbing up to look into a crater, with a local guide.

4x4 excursions in Lanzarote: a full day without driving

The 4x4 tours last 6 hours and are guided excursions: you ride as a passenger, so you don't need a licence or to meet a minimum driver age. The trade-off is that you don't get to drive.

If nobody in the group wants to drive, the 4x4 is the plan. If someone does want to take the wheel, look at the 4- and 6-seater buggies, designed for groups and families.

La Graciosa by jeep

To see La Graciosa in a short time, a 4x4 tour is the practical option. The complete jeep tour with beach time lasts 2.5 hours: Pedro Barba, Playa de las Conchas, Montaña Amarilla and free time at Playa Francesa. There are also shorter 4x4 tours from €40, and the Safari Taxi in the north of the island charges €60 for up to two people, €30 for each extra person.

Ask when you book whether the ferry is included: it changes the final price.

Buggy in Fuerteventura: a day trip to Corralejo

If you want to drive a buggy on dunes, you won't find it in Lanzarote: driving on beaches and dunes is banned. The day trip to Corralejo crosses to Fuerteventura and does a buggy tour of the north of that island. It costs from €124 per person and takes about 10 hours including the crossing.

Two honest warnings. It has a lower rating than the Lanzarote buggies, 4.1 out of 5. And GetYourGuide doesn't show who runs it: according to a secondary listing, it's Fuerteadventure, which has an office in Corralejo. A copy of the listing mentions a bus and a boat from Lanzarote and a driver aged 18 or over; confirm it when you book.

Other ideas that go well with a buggy tour

  • Timanfaya (Montañas del Fuego): €30 per adult, €15 for ages 7 to 12, free for 6 and under. Only with an online time slot. It's the natural add-on, because no buggy enters the national park except along the LZ-67 road.
  • La Geria wineries: the guided visit at Bodega La Geria costs €15; El Grifo doesn't open for visits at weekends. If you're driving the buggy, save the wine for another day.
  • Trike or Polaris Slingshot: if a buggy sounds like too much dust, look at the trike and Slingshot, always on tarmac.

If you're staying in the south, the Playa Blanca page tells you which buggy tours pick up there and where the quads leave from.

Frequently asked questions

What can you do in Lanzarote with kids who can't go on a buggy?

On the 4x4 tours in the north or south and the La Graciosa jeep tour you ride as a passenger, with no minimum driver age. Paracraft's parasailing takes children from age 8 with an adult.

Do you need a licence for a jet ski in Lanzarote?

No, if you ride on a circuit or in a guided group with an instructor: at most four jet skis per instructor and two people per jet ski. Paracraft asks for the driver to be 18, or 16 with parental consent.

Can you do a dune buggy excursion from Lanzarote?

Not in Lanzarote itself, because driving on beaches and dunes is banned. The option is the day trip to Corralejo, in Fuerteventura, from €124 per person.

Which is better, a buggy or an e-bike tour of La Geria?

A buggy needs a driver with a licence, usually held for two years, and a minimum age of between 18 and 22 depending on the company. An e-bike needs no licence, goes more slowly and leaves more time in the vineyards.

How much is a jeep excursion to La Graciosa?

4x4 tours on La Graciosa start from €40 and the complete tour with beach time from €55. Check whether the ferry is included before you pay.
