Plenty of people stay in Puerto del Carmen, but the resort isn't Lanzarote's main buggy base. The northern routes start in Costa Teguise; the central ones in Puerto Calero and on the LZ-2 at Yaiza. Only two tours start and finish in the resort itself, and they are very different from each other.

The real difference: with H2O you know exactly what you'll see; with Paracraft you're buying a guided buggy outing whose route nobody has published.
"Buggy Adventure" is the name Paracraft uses on GetYourGuide for its buggy tour from Puerto del Carmen. Paracraft is a water-sports company based at Playa Chica (jet skis, parasailing), operating since 1998, which also offers a buggy. We look at it in detail in our Paracraft review.
What is confirmed on its website and on GetYourGuide:
What isn't known, and it's worth being clear about it: Paracraft doesn't publish the route. There's no list of stops, no split between dirt track and tarmac, and no buggy model ("state-of-the-art vehicle", says the listing). Nor is it stated whether the fleet is Paracraft's own or another company's. If the route is what decides it for you, ask before you pay.
The duration doesn't add up either: GetYourGuide says 2 h and Paracraft's website 2.5 h. Allow two and a half hours when planning your day.

The other tour that starts in Puerto del Carmen is run by H2O Sports Lanzarote, the same company behind the northern off-road routes from Costa Teguise. This one is different: it's on tarmac all the way and includes a short walk.
The route H2O publishes:
It's the best choice if someone in your group doesn't want dust and bumps, or if you're worried the dirt tracks might change under the new rules: as it stays on tarmac, it doesn't depend on what the Cabildo decides. The downside: if you want to drive on dirt tracks, there aren't any here. There's more in our guide to on-road buggy tours.
Buggies seat up to 4, there are no more than 5 buggies per group and guides speak English and Spanish. Because of the 40-minute walk, wear closed shoes you're comfortable walking in.

Prices are per buggy, not per person. What really changes the maths is how many of you share each vehicle.
| Tour | Price | With 2 on board | With 4 on board |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buggy Adventure, GetYourGuide | from €250 (up to 4) | €125 per person | €62.50 per person |
| Buggy Adventure, Paracraft website, 4-seater | €241.82 | — | about €60 per person |
| Buggy Adventure, Paracraft website, 2-seater | €145.09 | about €72.50 per person | — |
| H2O volcano road tour, GetYourGuide or direct | €180 (up to 4) | €90 per person | €45 per person |
Three things stand out from the table:
To compare with the rest of the island, see prices for every buggy tour.
Minimum age is the first thing to check, because it's what most often gets people turned away at the desk:
With children, the Buggy Adventure requires age 8 and a height of 1.35 m. The 1.35 m rule comes from Spain's General Traffic Regulations: below that height a child restraint is required. H2O's road tour listing only excludes under-3s; if you're travelling with young children, confirm which seat they'll need.
Everything else (foreign licences, international driving permits, alcohol) is in our guide to licence and requirements.
If neither of these appeals, there are three alternatives a short drive away:
| Base | Driving distance | Pick-up in Puerto del Carmen | What's on offer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Puerto Calero (Buggies Lanzarote) | 5.6 km, about 10 min | not offered on its website | dirt-track routes through the centre and La Geria, from €130 per buggy |
| LZ-2 km 17, Yaiza (LanzaBuggy) | 8 km from Puerto Calero | yes, 9 pick-up points | Can-Am Trail, Maverick, family buggy, trike, Slingshot |
| Costa Teguise (H2O) | 23 km, about 25 min | optional, €5 per person | northern off-road route up to Peñas del Chache |
Times are without traffic; add 20–30%. The Buggies Lanzarote route uses the very tracks behind Puerto del Carmen towards Tías: if you want dirt close to your hotel, it's the most direct option. See the Puerto Calero page and our comparison of every tour.
By bus (guagua), lines 24 and 25 link Puerto del Carmen with Puerto Calero, but we haven't been able to check all their times; look them up before relying on them to reach the start on time.
One warning that affects every route with dirt tracks: on 2 October 2026 the Cabildo opened a month-long public consultation on a by-law that could restrict or ban buggies and quads on tracks and rural land. Nothing is banned today, but routes may move onto tarmac. Check when you book.
Paracraft also sells two packages from the same Playa Chica office:
The buggy age rules are the same (22 to drive). How to fit all three activities into one day, and the jet ski rules, are covered in our buggy and jet ski guide.

The short answer is no to both:
It's Paracraft's buggy tour, leaving from its office next to Playa Chica in Puerto del Carmen. It lasts 2 h according to GetYourGuide and 2.5 h according to Paracraft, costs from €250 per buggy for up to 4, and the driver must be 22 or over.
Paracraft doesn't publish the Buggy Adventure route, so ask when you book. H2O's on-road tour takes in Volcán El Cuervo (on foot), La Geria and Las Grietas.
On GetYourGuide, from €250 per buggy for up to 4 with Paracraft (about €62.50 per person with four of you) and €180 per buggy for up to 4 on H2O's road tour. On its own website, Paracraft also offers a 2-seater buggy for €145.09.
On the Buggy Adventure, from age 8 and at least 1.35 m tall, accompanied by an adult. H2O's road tour listing only excludes under-3s; confirm the seat if you're travelling with young children.
Yes. LanzaBuggy has 9 pick-up points in Puerto del Carmen and H2O offers optional pick-up for €5 per person for its Costa Teguise routes. Buggies Lanzarote, in Puerto Calero, doesn't offer pick-up on its website.
We haven't found any self-drive buggy hire on Lanzarote. Every tour is a guided group outing; the only unguided hire is H2O's Can-Am Ryker trike, in Costa Teguise.
