Plenty of people look up Lanzabuggy expecting to find it in Playa Honda, next to the airport. It's an easy mistake to make: the legal notice of Aventura Lanzabuggy SL gives its address as Calle Toldilla 5, Playa Honda (San Bartolomé). But that is only the registered office. The place the tours actually start from, and the one the company gives as its contact address, is at km 17 of the LZ-2 in the municipality of Yaiza, in the south-centre of the island, not far from Puerto Calero. Our verdict on the company itself (direct prices, reviews, weak points) is in our Lanzabuggy operator review.

Where is Lanzabuggy, and where do the tours start?

The operating base is on the LZ-2 at km 17, in Yaiza. Some resellers describe it as "Carretera Arrecife, LZ-2, km 17". The office is open Monday to Thursday 8:00–19:00, Friday and Saturday 8:00–16:00, and closed on Sunday.

A second name causes confusion: some resale websites still say the base is "Lanzarote A Caballo". Today Lanzarote a Caballo is a horse-riding company based in Tinajo, and it doesn't offer buggies. Go by the address Lanzabuggy gives itself: LZ-2, km 17.

Do they pick up from your hotel? Pick-up areas

Yes. Lanzabuggy's booking system lists 32 pick-up points across four areas:

  • Playa Blanca: 16 points, the area with the most stops.
  • Puerto del Carmen: 9 points.
  • Costa Teguise: 6 points (for example, the Teguise Playa bus (guagua) stop, at 08:25 for the morning tour).
  • Puerto Calero: 1 point, the bus stop at the roundabout (09:15 in the morning, 12:55 in the afternoon).

Playa Honda isn't listed as a pick-up area, even though it's the company's registered address. If you're staying there, ask when you book where you'll be collected; Puerto del Carmen is about 11 km away. Lanzabuggy doesn't say whether pick-up costs extra on its buggy tours, and some resellers sell "no transfer" versions. Check before you pay.

Lanzabuggy's five tours on GetYourGuide

All prices are per vehicle, not per person. On GetYourGuide they cost the same as on Lanzabuggy's own website.

Its direct website also has a 2-hour Trail (€130), the family mixed road-and-track tour (€190 for 2 h, €250 for 3 h) and a Can-Am Spyder tour (€160).

If you want the most affordable buggy to drive on a fairly new licence, the Can-Am Trail is the one. If you're after power, go for the 3-hour Maverick Turbo.

Which route does each vehicle take?

The published routes for its buggies stay in the centre and south of the island; they don't head up to Haría and Peñas del Chache, which is where the Costa Teguise buggies go.

  • Maverick Trail: Puerto Calero, Tías, San Bartolomé, Montaña Blanca, Masdache and La Asomada. These are the same areas Buggies Lanzarote covers from Puerto Calero: two separate companies on the same central tracks.
  • Family (on-road and mixed): heads towards Uga and crosses Timanfaya on the LZ-67, the public road; then passes through the Los Volcanes Natural Park and the villages of Tinajo, Tinguatón, Masdache, Yaiza, Tías and Mancha Blanca. It stops at Los Hervideros and at a La Geria winery with a shop, toilets and a tapas restaurant. The Los Hervideros stop may be swapped because of wind, road closures or sporting events.
  • Trike: Uga, Tinguatón, La Geria, Vegueta, San Bartolomé, Yaiza and the La Santa and Famara coasts, stopping at La Santa and at the Monumento al Campesino or Famara, depending on what the group prefers.
  • Slingshot and Spyder: the website doesn't publish a fixed route.

Nobody leaves the road inside Timanfaya National Park: the tours cross it on the LZ-67. The Montañas del Fuego are a separate visit with an entry ticket (see other things to do).

Dirt tracks: what could change

The Trail, the Maverick and the family mixed tour combine tarmac and dirt track. On 2 October 2026 the Cabildo (the island council) opened a one-month public consultation on an island bylaw that could restrict or ban buggies and quads on tracks and rural land. Nothing is banned for now, but routes could move onto tarmac. Check when you book how much of the route is on track. More background in off-road buggy tours.

How old do you need to be to drive?

Lanzabuggy doesn't apply the same rule to every vehicle:

VehicleDriver
Maverick Trail18 or over, full B (car) licence
Maverick X3 Turbo21 or over, licence held 2 years
4-seater family buggy21 or over, licence held 2 years; maximum 2 drivers per buggy
Trike and Slingshot21 or over, licence held 2 years

If you're 18 to 20, the Trail is the only Lanzabuggy tour you can drive. For passengers, one reseller gives a minimum age of 7 on the Trail. General Spanish rules require a child restraint for children under 1.35 m, so with young children the 4-seater buggy is the logical choice. Always ask for the exact rule on your tour. Everything about UK, Irish and other foreign licences is on licence, age and requirements.

On three wheels, since 1 October 2026 the law requires a helmet, gloves on roads outside towns and closed shoes; buggies with a roll cage and seat belts recorded on their registration documents are exempt. Wear closed shoes whatever you drive.

Lanzabuggy or a buggy from your own resort?

Lanzabuggy makes sense if you're staying in Puerto Calero, Puerto del Carmen or Playa Blanca, if you want to see Timanfaya and La Geria from the road, or if you fancy something other than a buggy, such as the trike for three or the Slingshot. It's also the only buggy option if the driver is 18 or 19.

If you're staying in Costa Teguise and want to head up to Peñas del Chache, a tour that starts there will suit you better. To compare every company and its prices, see our buggy tour comparison.
