Buggies and quads in Playa Blanca: who really runs them

There's no company called "Lanzarote Buggy" based in Playa Blanca, and no Playa Blanca buggy tour leaves from the resort itself. Lanzabuggy picks up at 16 points in the area; guided quads do leave from the south, from €75 per two-person quad. Here's the real picture.

  • from€75per buggy (up to 2 people)

  • Prices are per buggy, not per person
  • Every tour is guided

This page was meant to be a review of a company called "Lanzarote Buggy (Playa Blanca)". We looked for it in business registers, on booking platforms and on reseller sites, and it doesn't exist: the domain with that name doesn't even load. So instead, here's what is actually there, operator by operator, so you know who you'll be out with before you pay.

One thing to be clear about: lanzarotebuggy.tours is an independent guide, not a tour company. We don't own buggies or employ guides. We compare the tours on offer and earn a commission from GetYourGuide when you book through our links, at no extra cost to you. If you're looking for the people who'll actually drive you round the island, it's one of the operators below.

Quick verdict

  • Who it suits: if you're staying in Playa Blanca, you have three realistic options: a guided quad from the south, a buggy with hotel pick-up (mainly Lanzabuggy), or driving yourself to Puerto Calero, about 27 minutes away.
  • Who it doesn't suit: anyone expecting a buggy that leaves from the Playa Blanca seafront, goes to Papagayo or can be hired without a guide. None of that exists today.
  • The trap to avoid: websites with "buggy" and "Lanzarote" in the name that turn out to be resellers. One even sells Gran Canaria excursions. Always check who the operator is and where the tour starts.

We couldn't find a website of Rent a Quad Lanzarote's own: its trips appear on marketplaces and local resellers, with addresses that don't always match.

Route, vehicles and requirements

Lanzabuggy is the buggy company closest to Playa Blanca. Although its registered office is in Playa Honda, tours leave from the LZ-2 in Yaiza, about 19 minutes away with no traffic. Its family route in a four-seater buggy crosses Timanfaya on the road and stops at Los Hervideros and at a La Geria winery. Drivers must be 21+ with 2 years' licence; on the Maverick Trail, 18 with a category B licence is enough. The full review is at Lanzabuggy.

The southern quads leave from Playa Blanca or Yaiza and mix dirt tracks with tarmac. Listings mention areas such as Janubio, Los Hervideros, El Golfo or Femés. Since 1 October 2026 the law requires quad riders to wear an approved helmet, gloves on interurban roads and closed shoes. A category B licence covers quadricycles; the published minimum age is 18, though some resellers ask for 21. The full comparison is in quad or buggy.

What no route includes: Papagayo and Los Ajaches. It's a protected area, and a buggy convoy driving there was fined €4,500 in 2025.

Price: direct, reseller or GetYourGuide

For buggies, the list price is the same on almost every channel: Lanzabuggy charges €170 for the 3-hour Trail both on its own website and on GetYourGuide. The exception is Buggies Lanzarote: €160 on its website, with a €10 online discount, against €170 on GetYourGuide. There, booking direct works out €20 cheaper.

What changes are the terms: on GetYourGuide you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before, whereas some resellers take a non-refundable deposit or a €25 fee. Lanzabuggy doesn't publish its cancellation policy, so ask.

For quads, prices vary more: from €75 per quad on GetYourGuide (90 minutes) up to €100–110 with resellers for 1.5–3 h. All of these are per quad, not per person. Check dates for the south Lanzarote quad.

What reviews keep saying

There's nothing to say yet about the GetYourGuide quad: it has just two reviews. For Lanzabuggy, Tripadvisor reviews (more than 700, rated 4.7) mention that most of the route is on tarmac, that it's very dusty and that some buggies are a bit worn. For Buggies Lanzarote, people praise the guides, the off-road section and the scenery; the recurring complaints are the dust and the cold on higher ground.

Weak points of the options from Playa Blanca

  • Distance. No buggy leaves from the resort. With a pick-up, expect an early start: Lanzabuggy departs from its base at 09:30 and 13:15.
  • Confusing labels. On GetYourGuide some listings say "Playa Blanca" even though the tour starts in Costa Teguise.
  • Rules under review. On 2 October 2026 the Cabildo opened a public consultation on a by-law that could limit or ban buggies and quads on dirt tracks and rural land. Nothing is banned yet, but routes could move onto tarmac. Check when you book.

How to book without getting it wrong

  1. Check the real departure point, not the label on the listing.
  2. Look at who the operator is. On GetYourGuide it appears as the "activity provider".
  3. Confirm whether the pick-up in Playa Blanca is included or extra.
  4. Bring your original licence and closed shoes.

With a car, our pick from the south is the 3-hour tour from Puerto Calero; without one, the Lanzabuggy Can-Am Trail, with pick-up in the area. All the options with drive times are in our guide to buggies in Playa Blanca.
