Lanzabuggy reviews: our verdict on Aventura Lanzabuggy SL

Lanzabuggy (Aventura Lanzabuggy SL) has the widest choice of vehicles on GetYourGuide: two Mavericks, a 4-seater buggy, a trike for three and a Slingshot, at €150 to €230 per vehicle. Reviews are good; the complaints that come up are dust, a lot of tarmac and the odd worn vehicle.

Aventura Lanzabuggy SL (tax ID B-76104157) has its registered office in Playa Honda, but the tours leave from the LZ-2 road at km 17 in Yaiza, with pick-ups in four resort areas. We explain this in detail on the page about Lanzabuggy and its starting point. Here is our assessment of it as an operator.

Verdict at a glance

Good for:

  • Drivers aged 18 to 20: its Maverick Trail needs only age 18 and a full B (car) licence, when almost every other buggy on the island asks for 20–22.
  • Anyone who wants something other than a buggy: it's the only operator on GetYourGuide with a trike for three and a Polaris Slingshot.
  • Families who prefer tarmac: the 4-seater buggy through Timanfaya (on the LZ-67), Los Hervideros and La Geria works out at €40 per person with four on board.
  • People staying in Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen or Puerto Calero, where it has pick-up points.

Not ideal for:

  • Anyone mainly after dirt tracks: reviews describe a route that is mostly on the road.
  • Anyone who wants to head north to Peñas del Chache: that's what the Costa Teguise buggies do.

Quads and the "Ninja" buggy are shown as inactive in its booking system. The company also sells boat trips.

Routes, vehicles and requirements

The Trail routes run through Puerto Calero, Tías, San Bartolomé, Montaña Blanca, Masdache and La Asomada. The family buggies head towards Uga, cross Timanfaya on the LZ-67 road, pass through the Los Volcanes Natural Park and stop at Los Hervideros and a La Geria winery. The trike covers La Geria, San Bartolomé and the La Santa and Famara coasts. For the Slingshot and the Spyder the website doesn't publish a fixed route.

Driver requirements: 21 and a licence held for 2 years on every vehicle except the Trail (18 and a full B licence). No more than two people may drive the family buggy. For vehicle and engine details, see Can-Am Maverick and Trail; for the trike and Slingshot, trike and Slingshot.

A word of warning about the company's website: every buggy page repeats generic text about "engines from 250 to 500 cc" that doesn't match the figures in its own booking system (Rotax 800, 1000 cc and a 173 hp turbo), and the menu calls a Can-Am a "Maverick RZR Turbo" (RZR is a Polaris name). These are copy errors, not fleet problems, but they're worth knowing about.

Price: direct vs GetYourGuide

On the five tours it sells through GetYourGuide, the price is the same as on its own website: Can-Am Trail €170, Maverick Turbo €230, family buggy €160, trike €150 and Slingshot €170. The difference is in the terms:

  • Direct website (reservas.lanzabuggy.com, card payment): has the 2-hour Trail for €130, the family mixed tour and the Spyder, none of which are on GetYourGuide. Cancellation terms aren't published on the site.
  • GetYourGuide: free cancellation up to 24 hours before and a "reserve now, pay later" option (confirmed on the Trail and the Maverick).
  • excursionslanzarote.com (TravelON): resells several of its tours with pick-up included, but takes a non-refundable 25% deposit and sells the 173 hp Maverick at €240, €10 more. We review it under Excursions Lanzarote.

If you want the short 2-hour Trail, book direct: it's €40 cheaper than the 3-hour version and only available there.

What the reviews keep saying

On GetYourGuide its tours score between 4.5 and 4.8 out of 5: the trike 4.8 from more than 140 reviews; the Slingshot 4.7 from almost 200; the Trail 4.5 from more than 300; the Maverick 4.5 from around 150. On Tripadvisor, according to the snippets shown in search results, it has 4.7 out of 5 from more than 750 reviews.

Themes that recur in those snippets:

  • Roughly 25% dirt track and 75% road.
  • Lots of dust.
  • Some buggies described as "tatty".

Weak points

  • More tarmac than track. If you're mainly after off-road, ask what split your tour has.
  • A long way from the north. From Costa Teguise the drive to Yaiza takes around half an hour.
  • No published price for pick-up on the buggy tours. Ask whether it's charged.
  • Off-road under review. On 2 October 2026 the Cabildo (the island council) opened a consultation on a bylaw that could restrict buggies and quads on tracks and rural land. Nothing is banned yet, but routes could move onto tarmac: check when you book.
  • No published deposit, like every other operator on the island. Ask whether there's a damage excess.

How to book

  1. Choose your vehicle according to who's driving: at 18–20, only the Trail.
  2. If you want free cancellation, book on GetYourGuide: the trike for three and the Slingshot are there at the same price.
  3. For the 2-hour Trail, the family mixed tour or the Spyder, use Lanzabuggy's website.
  4. Bring your original physical driving licence and closed shoes.

Frequently asked questions

Is Lanzabuggy reliable?

It's a registered company (Aventura Lanzabuggy SL) with ratings of 4.5 to 4.8 out of 5 on GetYourGuide and 4.7 on Tripadvisor, according to search results. The complaints we've seen mention dust, a lot of road driving and the odd worn vehicle.

Is it cheaper to book Lanzabuggy direct?

Not for the five tours on GetYourGuide: the price is the same. Booking direct only gets you extra options, such as the 2-hour Trail for €130.

Where is Lanzabuggy based?

Its registered office is in Playa Honda, but the tours leave from the LZ-2 at km 17 in Yaiza. It picks up in Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen, Puerto Calero and Playa Blanca.

Does Lanzabuggy offer self-drive buggy hire without a guide?

No. All its products are guided convoy tours. We haven't found unguided buggy hire anywhere on Lanzarote.

What age do you need to be for Lanzabuggy?

21 with a licence held for 2 years, except on the Maverick Trail, which accepts drivers from 18 with a full B (car) licence.
