Three-wheeler tours are the alternative to a buggy for anyone who prefers tarmac, wind in their face and a longer route through villages and along the coast. There's no track dust, but no roof either: you're out in the sun and the wind. On GetYourGuide both products are run by Lanzabuggy, which starts from the LZ-2 at km 17 in Yaiza (how to get there and pick-ups).

On GetYourGuide the trike for three scores 4.8 out of 5 from more than 140 reviews, and the Slingshot 4.7 from almost 200. These are among the best ratings for any motorised activity on the island. The Spyder can only be booked on Lanzabuggy's website.
Lanzabuggy's trike is a Rewaco with 1100 cc and 105 hp, and a manual gearbox: if you've only ever driven automatics, bear that in mind. One person drives and two ride behind, so three people pay €150 in total. Per head, only a full 4-seater family buggy (€40) is cheaper.
The route takes in Uga, Tinguatón, La Geria, Vegueta, San Bartolomé and Yaiza, and goes up to the La Santa and Famara coasts. It stops at La Santa and, depending on what the group prefers, at the Monumento al Campesino or at Famara. It's a long road trip through the centre and north-west of the island, all on tarmac.
The Slingshot is a two-seater, three-wheeled roadster. It costs €170 per vehicle for 3 hours. Lanzabuggy asks for a B (car) licence, age 21 and 2 years with a licence. The website doesn't publish a fixed route.
One reseller that sells it warns that the Slingshot can't go into Timanfaya National Park. Expect to see the volcanoes from outside the park or from the road, not to visit the Montañas del Fuego, which you book separately (more in other things to do).
A B (car) licence covers motor tricycles. The small print: until you're 21, a B licence does not let you drive tricycles over 15 kW. Lanzabuggy's trike has 105 hp, well above that limit, and the Slingshot and Spyder exceed it too. On a car licence you need to be 21, and the operators require that anyway, along with 2 years with a licence.
The "3 years with a B licence" rule you'll see online is for riding 125 cc motorbikes in Spain; it doesn't apply to trikes, Slingshots or buggies. An AM (moped) licence isn't valid. More on foreign licences and the International Driving Permit in licence, age and requirements.
If the driver is between 18 and 20, Lanzabuggy's only option is the Maverick Trail buggy; see Can-Am Maverick.
Since 1 October 2026 the law requires everyone riding in a three-wheeled vehicle to wear:
Vehicles with a protective structure and seat belts recorded on their technical registration card (the ITV card) are exempt. That's what lets most buggies go without helmets. On the trike and the Spyder there's no debate: full kit. The Slingshot has seat belts, but we haven't been able to confirm whether its card records a protective structure, and the Spanish press doesn't agree on whether a helmet is needed. Ask when you book what kit is provided, and bring your own gloves if you have them. Flip-flops and sandals aren't allowed on any tour.
Lanzabuggy doesn't publish a minimum passenger age for the trike or the Slingshot. One reseller recommends children be over 8. H2O's Ryker doesn't take under-10s. If you're travelling with young children, the on-road 4-seater family buggy is the simplest option: €160 per buggy, €40 per person with four on board.
The trike, the Slingshot and the Spyder run exclusively on tarmac. No dirt tracks, and certainly no beaches or dunes, which are off-limits to every vehicle on Lanzarote.
On 2 October 2026 the Cabildo (the island council) opened a public consultation on a bylaw that could restrict or ban buggies and quads on tracks and rural land. If the dirt routes change, buggy tours could move onto tarmac; the three-wheeler tours already are. If you're torn between the two, have a look at on-road buggy tours.
Lanzabuggy's trike and Slingshot are guided tours. The only three-wheeler we've found for self-drive hire is H2O's Can-Am Ryker: 24 hours for €150, on a car licence, collected in Costa Teguise or at other points. Its 2-hour guided tour runs from the Monumento al Campesino to Famara, the Mirador de Haría and the Mirador del Río road. More options in buggy hire.
€150 per three-seater trike for 3 hours, which is €50 per person with three of you. It's run by Lanzabuggy and you can book it on GetYourGuide at the same price as on its website.
€170 per two-seater vehicle for a 3-hour guided tour, around €85 per person.
A standard B (car) licence, and you must be 21: by law, a B licence doesn't cover tricycles over 15 kW until that age. The operators also ask for 2 years with a licence.
Yes. Since 1 October 2026 everyone riding in a three-wheeled vehicle must wear a helmet, gloves on roads outside towns and closed shoes, unless the vehicle has a protective structure and seat belts recorded on its technical card.
Not the trike or the Slingshot: they're guided tours. Only H2O hires out a three-wheeled Can-Am Ryker without a guide, for €150 for 24 hours.
