Operator website ↗

Civitatis isn't a partner of this website and we earn nothing if you book there. It's a Spanish excursions platform, and many readers look there first, so we review it by the same standards as the others.

Quick verdict

Good for: anyone who wants a Spanish-speaking guide, prefers to read reviews from other Spanish-speaking travellers, or already books the rest of their excursions on Civitatis. The price is the same as on GetYourGuide.

Not ideal for: anyone after choice. There are no quads, trikes or Slingshots, and no tours from Lanzabuggy or Buggies Lanzarote. Nor does it tell you which company runs the buggy.

What Civitatis offers in buggy tours

On the main Lanzarote page, with 51 activities, there's no buggy tour among the first 20. The buggies sit on the pages for individual towns (Costa Teguise, Playa Blanca, Puerto Calero), which is rather confusing.

Route, vehicles and requirements

Guatiza and Mala follows the dirt tracks around Guatiza, its old quarries, the Los Cocoteros salt pans and the cactus fields of Mala, in the north. The 3-hour version adds the Mala dam. Helmet and goggles are included.

Buggy + hiking is a tarmac tour: the buggy takes you through Los Volcanes Natural Park and then you walk to the El Cuervo volcano and Las Grietas. It doesn't go into Timanfaya National Park off the main road; no buggy does.

Civitatis doesn't say which company runs these tours. The route and prices match H2O Sports (€150 for the north, €180 for the on-road tour with El Cuervo), but we can't confirm it. Watch out for one detail: Civitatis gives Calle La Goleta in Costa Teguise as the meeting point for the El Cuervo tour, whereas H2O's on-road tour leaves from Puerto del Carmen. Confirm the starting point before the day.

And although they're listed under Playa Blanca or Puerto Calero, Civitatis gives a Costa Teguise meeting point for both. If you're staying in the south, check how long it takes you to get there on the Playa Blanca page.

Price: Civitatis against GetYourGuide and the operator

North off-road, 2 seats€150€150€150
On-road with El Cuervo, up to 4€180€180€180

There's no difference. €150 per buggy is about €75 each if there are two of you; €180 split four ways is €45 a head. On GetYourGuide you'll find them as the off-road tour from Costa Teguise and the on-road tour from Puerto del Carmen.

What the reviews keep saying

On the Spanish-language site, the Guatiza and Mala tour scores 9.3 out of 10 from over 150 reviews and more than 1,100 travellers. On the English-language site, the same tour has a single review and an English-speaking guide: almost all the buggy reviews are on the Spanish version.

As a company, Civitatis scores 4.5 out of 5 on Trustpilot from over 190,000 reviews. It's Civitatis Tours S.L., based in Madrid and founded in 2008. To see how customers rate each buggy tour across all platforms, see our review round-up.

Weak points

  • Small catalogue: two products against more than ten on GetYourGuide. No Buggies Lanzarote, no Lanzabuggy, no Paracraft, no quads.
  • Unnamed operator: you don't know who to call if something goes wrong on the day.
  • Minimum age of 12 on the north tour, whereas H2O, on its own website, asks for passengers to be at least 1.35 m tall. If you're travelling with children, ask which rule applies.
  • No-shows aren't refunded: cancellation is free up to 24 hours before, but if you don't turn up at the start, you lose your money.
  • Route subject to change: on 2 October 2026 the Cabildo (the island council) opened a public consultation that could restrict buggies on dirt tracks. Nothing is banned yet, but the north off-road tour could move onto tarmac.

How to book

Before you choose, read our Costa Teguise page, where the north tour starts. Bring your original driving licence: the driver must be at least 20 and have held a licence for two years. More details in licence and age, and the comparison with the other platforms in operators and platforms.
